The aim of the Central Coast Philharmonia is
to contribute to the community by encouraging people of all ages to sing
choral music and to enhance their musical skills and enjoyment by
participating in public performances with our musical associates. We do this
by maintaining a viable choir and orchestra.
We usually give three performances per year in our own right.
We also enjoy performing at concerts arranged by others where they help the
community. |

Our choir consists of between 50 and 70 members of all ages and abilities,
and our performances range from very serious to quite light. We have the
privilege of having an orchestra of professional players and a professional
conductor. Our audiences range from 250 to about 400.
The Central Coast Philharmonia choir rehearses on Monday nights at the
Central Coast Conservatorium at 45 Mann St, Gosford in a very friendly
atmosphere.
New members are always welcome, no auditions necessary. If you are
interested, contact our president, Trevor Moore, on 4368 4364.

We
are privileged to have the patronage of Peter Sculthorpe, AO, OBE, who
is probably Australia's foremost composer. He has written works in most
musical forms, and his output relates easily to the unique social
climate and physical characteristics of Australia. Furthermore, his
country's geographical position has caused him to be influenced by much
of the music of Asia, especially that of Japan and Indonesia. Certainly
he is Australia's best-known composer, and his works are regularly
performed and recorded throughout the world. |
